Marianist Book

Dear Readers,

Fr. Philip Hoelle, S.M. ( April 2, 1912- August 13, 2005) walked in
the footsteps of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade. His apostolic ministry
in the city of Dayton is easily compared with what Blessed Chaminade did in
Bordeaux, France. Two of his dear friends whose marriage he witnessed over
sixty years ago were encouraged by Fr. Hoelle to write about his life. They
did and now we have an opportunity to learn about how much one convinced
Marianist can do for a city and for the Marianist Family. I encourage you
to purchase one of the books about his life and activities and spirit. You
will become a better person, a better Marianist member of the Family, or a
better informed reader about what we Marianists are all about. Proceeds
will be used to help Dakota Center-a work he started for those in need of
help in education, athletics, and nourishment. It continues on after over
forty-five years.

The book may be purchased for 13 dollars if ordered by mail request
from St. Mark's Bookshop either in Dayton or Centerville, Ohio:

Press release for Father Hoelle book

A verbal portrait of a locally known and revered Marianist priest has just
been published. Under the title, Father Philip C. Hoelle, Servant Priest,
this biographical sketch tells of this member of the Society of Mary's vast
contributions to the Church, to the Dayton community and beyond. During his
time as faculty at the University of Dayton, Father Hoelle also served as
Director of the Marian Library, editor of Mary Today, and initiator of
Front Line, a Lay Missionary Program. Considered by many as "the
Chaminade of Dayton," after the university years he co-founded the Dakota
Center and the Dayton Christian Jewish Dialogue, as well as numerous
programs at Bergamo Center. His genius lay in his gentle ability to
inspire others. For him, people are what mattered most.

A book signing by the authors and illustrator will be hosted at Saint
Mark's Bookstore at 895 South Main in Centerville (937-439-0227) on Friday,
July 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. The book costs ten dollars and all proceeds go to
the Dakota Center.
